Tor helped found Edict in 1989 and is actively involved in overseeing the company’s operations and driving its strategic direction.

Tor has over two decades of experience in successfully designing and implementing systems of all sizes. He is a seasoned entrepreneur and has held leadership roles in most of the ventures in which he’s participated.

Experience

Tor is an experienced systems architect and has been the lead application designer of enterprise class systems in the staffing, automotive, wholesale distribution and commodities verticals. Many of these systems were designed to actively monitor and manage supply chains from end to end.

Tor has had an ongoing interest in the development of expert systems for classification of news and events. Edict has several on-going projects that leverage research in this area that began more than a decade ago.

Tor is a skilled developer who began programming in the days of the teletype. Though he relies more and more on younger more agile talent he can still cut mean code – even if he doesn’t always comment properly.

Other Experience

Tor is also a partner in Rhumb Line, LLC a real estate venture developing a mixed-use property in downtown Rochester, MI. The development includes 16 residential condominiums and 15,000 square feet of leasable commercial space. Tor has been responsible for land acquisition, community relations and project management. 

Professional Qualifications and Memberships

Tor is a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP).
Tor is a certified project manager and has a PMP certification issued by the Project Management Institute (PMI). 

Education

Tor earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Grinnell College, Grinnell, IA.

Interests

Tor is an avid yacht racer and has competed as foredeck and navigator in 19 Port Huron – Mackinac Races – twice aboard winning yachts.

Tor has been active in the Great Lakes environmental movement and served for a time on the Board of Directors of the St. Clair Channelkeeper organization whose mission is to protect the water of Lake St. Clair and its surrounding watershed.
